thoughts on phi delt?

My dad is an alum and I know they aren’t the same as before but are the guys generally liked/ok? I’ve seen some posts that say they are irrelevant, but I’m trying to explore all my options this fall

Phi delt is currently pretty small due to their recent probation. They're getting back on track with a reasonable sized spring pledge class now (6-9 guys maybe?). I know a few pretty well, and they've always been nice and down to earth guys with a great brotherhood. They've fallen in rank in the past year, but they still have a solid group of guys to start rebuilding.

They’ve lost their relevance over the last 3-5 years. Would recommend rushing elsewhere instead of taking a. Gamble. You just won’t get a real fraternity experience with them.

They're nice guys and you would get a "real fraternity experience", but it's always good to rush several places and see the best fit

Check out Sig Ep.

Also a dry frat, but more popular

100% honest opinion, they were mid tier and on the up a few years ago. They got in trouble for hazing and were suspended for a year which hurt their numbers. They now have a smaller chapter, some nice guys, and are leasing a house from acacia. They're top of bottom tier now and compete with LXA, Beta, and Delta Sig in rush.

Im sorry but in what universe is Delta Sig relevant, I've never even seen one on or off campus. They definitely don't compete with any of the others listed.

I can tell you from firsthand experience (several of my friends and roommates are in phi delt). Basically, they were doing great in the fall of 2016 and then they got put under investigation and suspended from spring 2017 to fall 2017. This Spring is there first opportunity to get a class and they pulled a great group of guys. Looking at the downside of it, during that probation they weren't able to recruit so they lost around half of their chapter (so they have like 70 guys now), and some guys graduated and others got redlined. With this spring pledge class and the fall they'll be back to normal honestly. Their parties at their old house were lit as hell, but now all they need is just to get more numbers. All the guys I know in Phi Delt are great guys and my recommendation would be for you to reach out to them and meet some of the actives and learn some more about them. Don't pick a fraternity based on Greekrank it would be a lot easier for you to hangout with them one night and see if you think you'll fit in and then continue to rush them.

I definitley agree, they're a good group of guys that are recovering and hopefully between now and fall they'll be back to normal numbers

So this is partially true, they will recover I'm sure, but it'll be more like 3 years until they are back to where they used to be. Every fraternity has a different concentration, stable chapters concentrate on moving up, but Phi Delt, because of the past year and drop in numbers has to spend a lot of time (2-3 years) just getting back to where they were (bottom of middle) and then will spend the following 3 years trying to rise.

they have like 75-80 guys right now. They bring in a 25-30 person pledge class and they're right back to where they were. They had around 110-120 when they got put on probation. Granted it'll be a lot harder to have the same quality guys as they did before.

They manage to stay pretty active on campus despite their small size, their parties definitely don’t compete with the bigger ones but in terms of leadership on campus, they do well.

Based on past reputation and alumni base, shouldn't have any trouble growing.

They’re small at the moment due to their probation, but the guys that are left are awesome. They’re involved on campus and very chill and down to earth
