honest opinion from a graduate

My little brother is looking into UT and keeps referencing greek rank. This website is full of people trying to self promote their fraternity. At the end of the day, whatever fraternity you join will give you a group of guys that have a great time. I was in a top tier fraternity and hated a lot people I hung out with but loved most of the guys. I also had a lot of friends in mid tier fraternities that are some of my best friends. These are my honest opinions and if you're honest you'll have a tough time disagreeing.
Top tier: FIJI, SIG EP,
Mid Top Tier: ZBT, Kappa Sig, Sigma Chi
Lower Top Tier: Texas Rho, Delt, KA
Mid top tier and lower top tier is pretty interchangeable.
Top mid tier: Sammy, Pike, Phi Psi
Rest Mid Tier: ATO, Lambda Chi, Phi Delt
Anyone can get a lower mid tier bid (ATO, Lambda Chi, Phi Delt, etc.) but they still have a lot of alumni money, etc. For mid tier fraternities, sorority relations are definitely worse than top tier but at the end of the day it comes to how good you can talk to girls. I knew a lot of top tier greeks who couldn't talk to a girl to save their lives, and low tier greeks who dated ZTAs, Theta's and Kappas. Don't worry about the reputations of the fraternity join them because you believe that you're going to have a great experience with the guys in your fraternity.
