hardin vs srd
by: QuestionI am coming to UT next year and I am registered for both of these dorms. My camp friends say to stay in Hardin, but SRD looks nicer. Pros of SRD are obvious....what are pros of Hardin?

Both have pros and cons. It depends on your personality and what kind of sorority you want to rush. Either is fine. If you choose Hardin, I would go with green because it is very homey and I loved all the girls that lived there (not as much into status)! even though most people would say red.
Hardin in 90 percent greek (everyone rushes and the remaining 10 are usually girls that dropped out). Most girls in Hardin come in knowing a lot of people from school and camp, most want the top sororities especially PKT, and most party a lot.
SRD is mostly greek but a lot of non-greek people live here. There are a variety of different girls who do different activities and are in different sororities. They have some party girls but for the most part it attracts calmer girls. It is very nice but not as homey feeling as hardin.

Hardin is a mirror into the Big 6. It is in no way the best private dorm out there, but it is lived in by girls who are tied to tradition. Just like the Big 6 houses. There are many girls in Big 6 houses that admit they are better fits somewhere else, but tradition and legacy status have them following in the footsteps of their mothers and grandmothers. Some girls have more spunk and independence than that and will break the mold of tradition and follow their heats and minds into areas that are better suited for who they are. These are the girls you will find in SRD. You don't have to shower in sub-standard bathrooms all for the sake of tradition. You don't have to be in just "ok" housing all because of tradition. You are suppose to go to college to become a strong independent woman. If you are going here for your MRS degree and that is all you think you are worth, then follow in the those hallowed footsteps and strap the badge of tradition to your chest.

The main advantage of living at Hardin is top secret. Everyone there knows what it is. Second advantage is location and living near Towers and I guess the new Callaway.

Be careful with this reply. YOU don't choose what sorority you want to rush, they choose you and living at Harding won't change anything if you are a dud. You will be the 10% odd men out, which is why SRD tends to be a better fit for most.
