connections?

Are connections really the end all be all when it comes to sorority recruitment? I know that rush at Texas is brutal, and that high school and camp associations are preferred. Are most of the top 8 sororities pledge classes all filled with girls that already know each other? Do no other girls really even have a chance with these sororities because of this? Are there certain sororities that don’t rely on connections as much when selecting PNMs?

The top 8 sororities have tons of girls that know each other prior to rush. dirty rushing is pretty standard for them.

That being said, there are some spots available for unconnected girls (even more so in the #7 and 8 sororities) if you really impress them. I know several completely unconnected girls in all of the top 8 houses.

There is room in every house if you stand out. Go up for parties and stay with people you know (if you do). Have fun while you visit but behave. Network a bit without it looking like networking.
