what makes a "bottom house"?
by: RoriI'm curious as to how the "bottom houses" of the UT Greek system have earned their reputations. What makes sororities like ADPi, KD, and AXiD so undesirable when compared to the other houses? Is it looks? Campus involvement? Grades? The personalities of the girls themselves? All of the UT sororities seem to have beautiful houses, well-known philanthropies, and full pledge classes. What separates the bottom houses from their better-regarded counterparts?

High school popularity + camp is the distinction in Texas. There are people who live in like shacks in PKT but got in because Mom was a legacy, or they went to the right school. There is money old and new scattered across the board and from OOS in the middle tier. Even in the bottom tier. These people didn't get on the radar because you're assumed to be some sort of peasant without the right "network" in the state of Texas

The reality is that the pecking order at the very top (PKT) has a lot to do with generational wealth and connections. Beyond that the pecking order is arbitrary and perpetuated by word of mouth and upperclassmen telling the underclassmen "this is the way things are". So girls go into rush with preconceived notions about the sororities and hold on to those notions tightly.

And the top of the pecking order is filled with a lot of chubby unattractive spoiled girls who could not make it in the world without mommy and daddy’s connections and money.

It usually just comes down to connections. Most of the girls in the top sororities are either legacies, went to the right summer camps, or hung out in friend groups that are of the following. Money is not a factor because there are plenty of wealthy girls in bottom tier sororities. I would just say that those girls did not have the connections to get into a top tier.

The right summer camps- Lol. Did you seriously post that. Why dont you try to branch out after high school and meet new people?

I went to look at the grade report for sororities - Spring 2017 is the last entry - Fall 2017 has not posted yet but as far as grades here is the ranking-

Those are all really high and very little difference in the top 12. Smart girls in sororities! Good to know!

To be fair, some sororities are full of easy majors like communications and education, so they can't really be compared on an objective basis.

“Their parents make less money”. As if any girl in any of the so called top houses have anything to do with how much money their parents make. This is so stupid.
