Post above by “interesting” ….. what a jerk. OP, nothing negative with being non-white and all sororities here are good and have their strengths. Go through rush if you want to join one, be positive and personable, find a house with girls you like regardless of race, and have fun making friends for life at UT!

Im sorry but I am so endlessly bored by the whole diversity debate I can't stand it. I am mixed and find it so so gauche to ask for representation as if someone who bakes like your grandma or celebrates a holiday like your dad makes for a better friend?!?!

If you are 3rd generation coconut like me you are not diverse. You may say you are because that's a good way to get into UT but there is nothing diverse about you if 40% of Texas is like you.

You may speak a little Spanish and have way too much family but if you want latino diversity bring in the Spanish and the South Americans. Want diverse black students? Bring in students from Africa. Nothing diverse about us Mexican Americans.. I'd trade every American "diversity" student for an international one in a heartbeat. At least they have something new to say I haven't heard already a million times over.

Do yourself a favor girl and rush where you find girls that communicate respect and joy, who cares about what color skin they have.

Finally boooooring wrote what many think but are too “afraid” to say out loud. diversity talk is being forced down our throats at every turn. I hate that people think I got into UT because I’m a “minority”, that my GPA didn’t need to be high or that I skipped the ACTs because I could and that I have a Latino sob story.

People will never stop treating us like a lower class if we allow universities to lower the threshold for entry so we too can “participate.” F that.

We are smart enough to get into UT under the SAME scrutiny as white students. And if we are not, WE DO NOT DESERVE TO BE HERE.

People like the OP are what’s wrong with society. You get to UT and immediately ask where ‘your people are’. Why go to UT then?
