core four
by: UTTired of all the talk about the big six. I personally like the Core Four...DG, AXO, ADPi, and APhi. These girls are smart, involved and kind.. they make the Greeks look good and are the heart of the Greek system.

I like Core 4 because they really are the core of the Greek system here and in Texas. These groups, along with the Big 6, are at most of the big Greek state and private schools in Texas.

It's fun to get on GR and get Big 6 all worked up! Always thinking a lower tier sorority is after them! LOL!
I signed contracts for both HH and SRD and paid all the up front fees. Wasn't much differences in price. HH has free laundry and a few more extra's. Guess that is the little extra $$$. Most my friends just liked the cozy, comfy atmosphere of SRD versus the run down version of HH. And by the way, a lot of us Big 6 lived in SRD and fit in just fine with our Big 6 sorority.

from what I see the big 6 and core 4 actually get along....yes there's a rivalry but it's friendly for the most part and no one really cares after freshman year anyway

HH has a few more extras like free laundry, larger room space so that creates the increase in pay. Otherwise, most girls signed contracts for both but made choices in the end. I preferred the dorm like qualities of SRD vs the apartment like atmosphere of HH. Really a matter of taste, NOT AFFORDABILITY. My suite at SRD consisted of a Tridelt, Theta, Zeta, and an APhi. All sororities were represented which was easily displayed door after door.

Actually I was just looking at Tech site...my little sister is thinking of going there...and I actually saw the term "Core Four" used there as well. Not even kidding. I almost died. Which is really incredible because traditionally their DG chapter is not all that fab(sweet girls though) and their APhi chapter is considered top six by many. At least my friends tell me that. They try to force the Big Six model on their chapters just like they do at A&M and it is ridiculous because they aren't the same as here at all.

if you type in Texas on the search box, UT is like two spots below Tech on there, the only reason the core 4 thing is on there is that someone from UT read this thread and then went and put it on TTU's page.

That's what I meant. I thought it was hilarious that the term Core Four appeared on this site and then a couple of days later it pops up on Tech's site as if it was a real concept. I am not a fan of any labeling...tiers....whatever...I just thought it was funny. All of our sororities are filled with awesome girls and nobody needs a label to feel better about who they are or to separated themselves from others. It is all good!
