hardin

I am planning to live in Hardin next year because it looks warm and fun. I am trying to decide which house though. Anyone have any insight? I plan to go out and have fun, but I am not super wild. I can sleep through anything and love the friendly, loud, chaotic feel of red, but I don't want to end up being the only girl there who doesn't party all of the time. Is that what red is always like? I have heard that green is "quieter" but nice. Maybe too quiet honestly. Anyone know anything about main house? Thank you for any information!

If you don't want to party 24/7, main or green would be a good option for you, with main being better imo. My cousin lived in red and said she felt kind of judged by some of the girls because she wouldnt go out on week nights. Have you sent in your application yet, bc if not it might be too late since so many people want to live in Hardin

Ok. Thanks so much. That is kind of what I am hearing. I have always just figured Red was the thing to do since it is the one I have always heard about, but I think I am going to switch to Main. Will the house matter for rush at all or not really? Guess girls from all houses rush and do ok?

Yes, my application was sent in years ago....my mom is kind of crazy!

No problem! I am in the same situation. Honestly, if you do not have connections to the top houses, it doesn't really matter where you live. A sorority genuinely will not give you a bid/ not give you a bid because of where you stay, they focus more on who you know. Def would not recommend red house if you didn't go to camps/ high school with the right people. Most of those girls rush PKT, and you will feel isolated if you dont.

I actually did go to one of the three big camps so I think I will know a decent number of people in top chapters during rush. I think I was pretty well liked, but I don't know any of the older girls at UT really, really well which is a bit scary. I am hoping that will be enough to at least get me a look in the top houses. Are you planning to go stay at Hardin in the spring? I am not sure anyone will think to invite me and it feels so awkward to reach out myself. Do girls do that? Any tips?

Thanks so much and good luck to you!

oh I think you'll be fine if you went to camp with those girls. Literally in the same boat as you, except i'm at a huge disadvantage bc I don't go to any camps. A few girls from my school that went to UT live in hardin this year, but I don't know them well at all. I plan on going to UT next spring to visit, but I will probably stay with my older sister who likes to go out, but is not in greek life. She does have friends involved that are in mid/lower sororities, so I'm hoping i'll be able to meet these girls and see what they're like. I have no tips, because I feel completely clueless in this process lol. Good luck to you as well :)

Don't feel awkward asking a girl if you can stay with her, a girl I didn't know very well from high school asked to stay with me last year and I got to know her and ended up rushing her and getting my whole chapter to meet her! If you know people definitely reach out to them about spring parties.
