sorority rush questionz from an oos girly

by: yo

Hi all. I will be an incoming freshman this fall (C/O 22), and I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to what Texas rush is like. I come from NJ, and from what I have heard, our sororities here are nothing compared to southern sororities. I have also read that UT rush is notorious for being difficult and that you need connections to succeed. How can I make connections with girls in the houses if I live so far? Also my aunt was a DDD, how beneficial will this be for me?
I know it seems early to be asking these questions, but my friend's mom told me that if I want to rush at a school as serious as UT, it is almost time to start getting my stuff together. I'm basically just wondering if it will be worth it for me to rush, seeing that the odds are stacked against me. Thanks in advance!

yeah texas rush is rough, especially if you don't know anyone and live far. as for connections, you're a little screwed. Maybe follow the houses you think you're interested in on insta, and follow some of the girls as well.
as for having a tri delt aunt, I dont think it will really give you that much pull.
I recommend living in callaway, SRD, or Hardin house so you can meet other girls who are going to rush. even though the odds certainly are stacked against you, if you are decent looking and able to hold a conversation, you will probably be able to get into a house. I know a lot of people talk down on lower tier houses on greekrank, but at the end of the day, those houses still have fun, socialize with frats, have great sisterhoods, etc.

Sign up for one of those dorms now! They fill up quickly.

Rush is brutal, but worth it in the long term no matter where you end up. You are not too early to start thinking about rush.....girls around here who are informed will start end of February and in MArch.

As a member of rush team at a chapter at UT, i’ll Tell you that some sororities have a max number of put of state girls they’ll take. chi o, axo, & aephi are a couple of the chapters that take more out of state girls ( ik lots from NJ!!) so all hope isn’t lost! Rush can be very intense and some chapters probs won’t look at you twice just bc you’re oos but that’s theyre loss. if your aunt went to a school that had a really good tri delt chapter it might help but who knows. Good luck!

Don't worry about the stuff you can't control.

Get recs lined up for EVERY chapter. Now.

Your aunt being a Tri Delt won't help (unless she's a national officer or some big time alumna) because aunts aren't legacy relationships.

OOS girls have successful rushes but you'll need to be open to being in ANY chapter.
