can i get into a good sorority while living at srd?
by: ?Will living at SRD next year hurt me during recruitment? I know that a lot of people say that Hardin is good for recruitment, but I've also heard that if you don't have friends going into Hardin then it won't really make a difference. SRD is supposed to be a little less Greek, so will the houses have any issues with me living there?

I'm also looking at SRD next year and wondering the same. TBH I don't really think girls in the top 3 houses live in SRD (i think theyre mainly Hardin) but there are still tons of girls in SRD who rush. Also Hardin would be miserable if you didn't have friends going in, bc literally all of those girls know eachother

I know a Pi Phi who lived in SRD her freshman year. I think her roommate went Tri Delt. If PKT really wants you, it doesn't matter where you live. And if you're not PKT material, living in Hardin House can be rough if you don't get a bid or drop out.

I think SRD is a pretty good choice for rush, a decent amount of girls go through recruitment that live there. They have girls from basically every house besides PKT. Hardin really only helps if you’re a PKT legacy/connection shoo in and already know everyone else that’s planning to live there. SRD is probably your best option for a well rounded recruitment if you’re going in with minimal connections/legacy status. Callaway is on the rise, a lot of girls that live there are pledging mid to upper tier houses, but it’s even more expansive than Hardin and contracts fill up fast. All in all, no, SRD won’t hurt you. In fact, it might even help you a little. It’s better than having to say you’re living in Jester (or basically any other on campus housing for that matter).

Lots of sorority women live in SRD. I don’t know why these rumors go around. And sororities don’t choose you because of where you live they choose you based on if they already know you (top ranked houses) or meet you during recruitment and you develop a good connection (and have good recs, rep, etc.).
If you don’t already have connections with certain houses it does not matter where you live. Other houses will meet you during recruitment. That is why people say to be open to all houses.
Yes, PKT does not live in SRD but you won’t be joining them so it does not matter!
