Read the comments under the pictures of each sorority's stereotype-look in "Sisterhood is Powerful", from Texas Monthly. It says, "Zeta Tau Alpha- Zetas do try harder. Lack of effort is not why a Zeta isn't a Pi Phi. Let no one say that the Zetas don't have a look of their own. They do. Does this girl exude satisfaction with her position in life? Does she shun heavy makeup, secure in the knowledge that she has enough going for her that she can afford a perfectly natural look? Does this woman look like a Pi Phi? To her everlasting credit, she does not, and-bless her heart for trying-she never will." I'd maybe give Zeta a rating in the top 8.

Yes it DOES. You apparently don't have the original. It shows 6 color photos of the sororitites, describing each one. Oh, and if it's from the 70's .... so OLD... then no big 6 is NO MORE either. And THAT's over 40 years ago.

You are quoting 2 different articles...both from 1976...both intended to be satirical, not the Gospel, lol
Your quote is from "A Certain Look". The real article "Sisterhood is Powerful"is by Prudence Mackintosh.
Again...both satire. Both from the 70's.

For the record, APhi still tries way harder than Zeta and that's probably the only reason they haven't altogether "replaced" Zeta. Like they try sooo hard.

I was the one pointing out that the article was from 1976 and was meant as satire. The author herself declared "the Big 6" label at that point in time. If you read the article, she doesn't even make all four years in her sorority before she quits. The label has stuck and it is stupid. Most would agree that PKT are still tops in terms of tradition and desirability by a certain group of PNMs who are following family and school tradition. However, a lot of girls don't give a hoot about Big 6 or PKT. I look at Big 6 as a tradition, not a true ranking. They get who they want for the most part, but so do AXO, APhi, and (to a certain point) DG and KD. Every AXiD or ADPi pledge isn't searching for a spot in Big 6 and are quite happy where they land too. There is plenty of sisterhood to go around. Big 6, the tradition, will always continue. It is what it is. However, the rankings of all sororities is far more fluid than most would admit. Lots more cross rushing with Big 6 and the other sororities than most would admit.

PKT will only cross with other PKT and Big 6. XO/DDD/ZTA will MAYBE cross with APhi/AXO. No one will pick KD/ADPi over anything in Big 6. It's just "tradition" but tradition means a LOT at UT.

Your comprehension lags. I said many of the girls aren't looking for PKT or Big 6. They don't care. I didn't say they would choose KD or ADPi OVER PKT if offered. I said they don't care or expect or worry about PKT. Many do, but not ALL girls go in hoping for Big 6 or PKT. Some just want to be happy wherever they go. I cross preffed PKT and another outside Big 6, so you don't know your facts. I am IN PKT, but I still understand that not everyone cares. Tradition for my family, not others. I believe PKT will always be the most desired by traditionalist. I believe Big 6 will always be a "thing". I just don't think the actual order of quality girls is always PKT, rest of Big 6 and then whoever follows. Rankings are fluid and they do cross pref. Sorry

That article was written in 1976! Over 40 years ago. Things do change. Additionally, I have read that article several times...it doesn't even say that.
