rushing again as a sophomore ....
by: Sarah_E
I am an out of state girl who dropped out of recruitment because I only had Alpha Xi and ADPi left and I am way better than that. I'm using this year to get to know sorority girls so they can fight for me during 2018 recruitment.
I feel that I can rush as a sophomore and get a house I want to be in. I don't want to have to deal with a chapter's less popular status and I don't want to force it at a house that's not appealing to me. Some girls force it and it works out fine but other girls force it and they aren't happy, so it just depends on the girl.
For me, I met some really cool girls in specific houses already, so I'm hoping to get one of those houses next year.
I'll go ahead and take the mystery out of things so you know what's what, although rush seems so long ago now and a few chapters are not on my wish list anymore. I get that every UT chapter has smart, attractive girls, I mean that's just UT for you, but at this point, I can honestly say I would love to be associated with Kappa, Theta, Chi O, Alpha Phi or Alpha Chi.
Many girls at UT re-rush well as sophomores; there's no reason for me not to. I'm having fun, meeting lots of people and going to lots of events, so, here's to next year!!

I am from OOS too. Let me just tell you right now. Your post is an embarrassment to every OOS girl who has rushed successfully as a sophomore. I will say this though...things have gotten better here since when I rushed. Houses are way more open-minded about connections than before, and were especially in 2017. Hence, why some houses are starting to slip.
That being said, take a cold hard look at yourself and maybe you'll understand why you ended up with those "inferior" houses despite the easier circumstances.
Keep in mind that nobody likes a snake either. It's a little cringey when people latch onto you because they think you can get them in the next year above all things. People smell the desperation so very much. Seriously adjust the attitude, or forget about a chance. We aren't stupid.
You're right about not wanting to force a houses, but your post just rubs me the wrong way. Being from some super random state doesn't really help either haha

Is it bad that I'm grateful my chapter isn't one of your "targets"?
I have friends in almost every chapter and like you said they are all beautiful, intelligent, pretty awesome people like everyone in greek life UT. Too bad you're "too good" for most of their chapters.

If you read these comments and then go to Greekrank, you can tell that all of these negative comments are from these old women at Greekrank. These are alum are angry that this girl did not want any of their groups.
Haha
They think they know UT rush better than we know UT rush. Girls rush well as sophs here. That’s the truth. You might get bottom tier as a freshman who has no connections and then you get middle and top to year as a sophomore.
This isnt Alabama or Mississippi. The difference is that it’s hard to get into UT so we have a lot of people that transfer in as sophomores because they still want to go here and have an easier time transferring in second year. Because of that, we have great girls that go through rush as sophomores. As far as the OOS girl who is the subject of this post, she’s proally bonding with actives now and will be brought into the sorority she wants to be in. And that, Greekrank losers, is how it works at UT. Now go get all of your loser, no nothing regional college friends to down vote this post.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Actually, I am in college. If the truth hurts your feelings, too bad you snowflake. Let a chapter determine whether you’re really their “material.” The sophomores who get good bids were determined so.
