bid day drop phone calls???

by: Kkjjmmhh

If you pref two, then go to the parties, rank your top two ... can you still get a phone call on bid day saying you've been released? Meaning no bids from either first or second choice?

If you attended two preference parties and listed both on your preference sheet, this is what is called maximizing your options. This means you are GUARANTEED to receive a bid to one of these houses.

Thank you for the encouragement! One last question ... so if my first choice doesn't give me a bid, would a snap bid be too late? (I think they've given these in the past).

Snaps bids are only for chapters who do not make quota. If your #1 is in that position, you would already be getting a bid from them since you ranked them first and you matched.

Let's say your #1 is not in that situation, and they reach quota before they get to your name. The system then checks to see if you are on your #2's first bid list, then you will receive a bid from them. If you are too low on their list, then you will be given a bid to one or the other chapter as a quota addition. The system attempts to give PNMs their first choice when they're a quota addition, but it also weighs other factors such as the size of those chapters, the number of others that need to be QAs for each chapter, etc. If you are a quota addition, you will never know. The end result is that when you maximize your options on preference, you are guaranteed a bid to one of them.

You're not eligible for snap bids if you maximized your options after pref. Only if you suicided, or dropped out earlier in the week/were cut.
