"connections"

by: pnm

I am from a good public school directly outside a major city and lots of girls from my HS go PKT/big six. I know that connections are required to get in there, but even though I know those girls and we like one another well enough, we weren't exactly friends and didn't hang out in the same social circles. Does this mean I don't have a chance with them? JW what to expect.

Maybe. Or you could try for a sorority where you will be more than just friendly acquaintances with the girls. I am not meaning to sound harsh and there are fabulous girls in PKT, but why in the world would you worry so much about that? It isn't high school and things change. They are not the only sororities that matter. You may well end up there or in some other wonderful group. Do not go through with such preconceived notions. Just try to relax and enjoy!

I didn't see the Big Six part. There are still wonderful groups outside that. On here people talk smack, but plenty of overlap with sorority friends through most of the groups. Other than some girls who are extremely worried about family or friend expectations, you can find a happy place just about anywhere. You are not a failure if you land outside the Big 6. I promise.

I attended a similar type high school. From what I've noticed over a couple of pledge classes is that actives in those chapters tend to pull in similar girls from the classes behind them- i.e., the drill team girls go Kappa, the cheerleaders go Pi Phi, the academic student council leader types go ChiO, and then there may be a random mega legacy that gets thrown into the mix. I wouldn't say that all the drill team Kappas were bff in high school but the younger girls are well though of enough (even if just aquaintances) that the older actives pull them in.

I've never known a random who isn't a big time legacy to get a bid to any Big 6 chapter from my high school.
