Snap Bids are added to the roster after formal pref parties but before formal bids are handed out. A tiny number of discreet panhellenic women know the exact number of snaps, and no women from a house save those very few ever know which pnm women are snaps at formal bid day.

If people are as circumspect as you say then how did the info get out last year? Seriously bad feelings as it wasn't kept confidential at all. One of the people that accepted the snap said she felt ostracized in the house as others knew the situation. I think this is tragic and so so unkind. The size of the circle that knows the facts needs to be kept smaller this year and people need to keep their mouths shut. How awful is it to get a bid after you thought you were SOL and then feel like crap because people know your status? Awful management by panhel. Not cool at all.

Because most of it is untrue gossip made up by girls who are jealous of the higher tier houses!

Snap bids can happen if a chapter does not make Quota during bid matching. The President & Rush Chair will get a call from Panhellenic letting them know how many they are short of Quota and they have until Bid Day starts to extend snap bids to reach Quota. If they snap to Quota the chapter is shown to have made Quota that year.
Technically, only the Pres - Rush Chair - Advisor - NM accepting snap knows that the chapter fell short & had to snap. Some actives may realize that the NM(s) weren't at Pref but usually you're snapping someone who went all the way up to Pref with your chapter and then withdrew, not some random you cut after open house.

They cut too many girls because they are over confident that other girls will pref them and then are short when those girls pref other houses.
