What rock are you living under?? sororitys started out and exist for women but don't think for a second that what the guys think is nothing. What they think totally influences rankings; and guess what?! That's OK because it's pretty normal to want mens' approval and in no way diminishes women's sense of self.

But back to the topic, just because ZTA/AXO/APHI are hot doesn't mean they aren't smart, talented or lacking a great sisterhood. Those chapters are all that and more.

So are you saying ZTA/APHI/AXO are more attractive and probably smarter, maybe classier and I know ZTA has wealth even compared to PKT so why is there such hype about PKT?

Not true....there is actually a LOT of wealth at UT. I was surprised how much. Lots of smart kids from wealthy families want to go to the best university in Texas!

Most wealthy Texas kids want to go to UT like their parents did. Many of these kids of Texas Exes can't carry on the Longhorn legacy and end up at Ole Miss, Baylor, TCU, etc. Some transfer into UT, some make do where they land and others live the UT social high life as ACC students because ending up a freaking Baylor Bear or TCU Frog is just not something they can embrace.

If the smart, wealthy kids don't go to UT, they damn sure aren't at any other school in Texas. They are out of state at the Ivys or schools like UVA, Duke, Vandy, USC, etc. They still identify as Longhorns anyway because they were raised that way. I can't tell you how many Harvard students and the like are die hard Longhorns fans.

Sure, SMU is an academically decent school and has tons of wealthy kids but it's more of a niche school.

Remember, UT is big and has all kinds of kids from all socio economic backgrounds but those wealthy, smart Texas kids find their way to UT and then concentrate themselves into UT greek life, which explains why UT greeks are over achieving, attractive, well off kids (that tend to be sorta snotty, unfortunately).

Go ahead and say it, "I go to UT". Yep, the statement's got attitude because of UT's history, it's stature within the state (and nationwide) and the challenge to get in.

If you want extracurricular stuff beyond alcohol, hang with PKT. They have all the money, wealth, and connections to buy good stuff. Very well known for this at parties.

So your daddy makes alot of money? What exactly have you done to get to your so-called elevated status other than being lucky enough to be born to rich parents? Alot of kids with money are just ridiculously stupid, shallow and ignorant about finances and real life. I could name some of them to prove my point, but I wont. They are living in a bubble, and people are using them for their money.
Also, there are alot of wealthy people in other sororities,(probably even wealthier than most PKT families) and you just don't know it because they are classy and don't flaunt their wealth as much as PKT

I dropped PiPhi after the first round because the moron that I was assigned to complained that she was mad at her daddy because he wouldn't buy here a new Yurmin for rush week. Ugh!

is that the OOS parents are wealthy enough to afford OOS tuition and sorority life. So you either have wealthy Texas families or you have wealthy OOS families and then you have successful blue collar type families (restaurant owner, etc). Either way, there is plenty of money backing up the actives in all chapters at UT.

There is a higher cost compared to other Texas schools with greek life (SMU, etc) but honestly, it's just not the same as being greek at The University of Texas.
