You couldn't have been cut by Pi Phi on pref. National policy requires all legacies at pref to go on their first bid list. Also, if you only had one pref party to attend, then you would automatically receive a bid through the NPC RFM software. So try again, lying troll.

You can try, but if recruitment works the same way as last year and your cuts are more than the number of parties for that round, you will be going back to pi phi.

You have very little say in which sororities you go back to. The houses pick you. You do not pick them.

You need to be telling all of your active friends that you do not intend to pledge your legacy and pray they have enough pull in their houses to keep you alive.

For anyone reading in the future, if you absolutely, 110% know you would rather not be Greek at all than pledge your mega-chapter legacy, you need to get ahead of it way before freshman year rush. Do not list your legacies on your rush application or in the rush packets you give to your rec writers and you need to have a chat with your legacy relative(s) to let them know you do not want the chapter to know you are a legacy rushing. The only way a chapter finds out legacies are rushing is if they are told- or if your family is so big time that your last name is who the parlor or staircase were named for.

It's not a policy at my house.

@OP if it were me I would definitely rank your legacy house last after first round. You don't get to cut them.

Also be sure your DG friends (and all other chapters you have good friends) know you aren't interested in legacy house. Be open to all lower tier too. And let them know you are very interested. Good luck

If you got pi phi this year would you take them? Confused why you don't seem interested in pi phi? You never know how the numbers will add up and which houses might have an interest in a sophomore. All I can say is to network like hell and get as many people lined up on your behalf as you can and see if you can get references for the houses you are interested in (not the same as legacy but you never know if it can help you out). Good luck. Seriously awful that you were cut before pref last year. I think its great that you are trying again. I seriously think our system has to be one of the worst in the country in terms of not offering enough options to PNMs that want to join a house and maximize their options during recruitment. I'm a junior and I will never forget the first year I participated and it turned out that most of the class had been picked before anyone ever entered the door (we were also bombarded with double and triple legacy situations and even some of these folks got cut). Serious eye opener to see all this go down. Wish it weren't this way as it makes us seem less than welcoming. I had no connections and wasn't from here so its quite a mystery why things worked for me as other people in my similar situation got cut early in the process and had no options by pref which was totally heartbreaking.
