will i get a bid?

I know no one on here can predict my future, but I am kind of scared that I won't get a bid at UT because it is so competitive.
I went to a small high school. I only know 2-3 girls in sororities at UT. I did good with recs and got 3 for each house. I had a good GPA and a good ACT score. I am living in Jester (I am not sure if this makes a difference)
I will probably rush either way, but would like to know my chances of receiving a bid to any house.

i am a biology major. i have about some friends who are already at ut, but two-three are in marching band and the others are greek (but i only know them from summer camp) i really do not mind where I end up, greek life at ut is great, but i knew my chances were low so i got a lot of recs to help.. but i realized it might not be enough.

Actually, 3 recs per house is overkill. If you know greek girls from camp, that will help you in the top 3 (PiPhi, Kappa/Theta). For most of the other top chapters, it's really about looks, style and personality (ChiO, Zeta, Alpha Chi/Alpha Phi). DDD is a little more about connections, too.

It is NOT difficult to get a bid at UT. The only people that say it is difficult are those that had a difficult time getting a bid from their first choice. Really it is all just hype. You won't have a hard time at all getting into a sorority, don't limit yourself on where you think you can get in.

Do you even go here?? It's hard to get a bid from certain houses. I know SUPER girls (whose friends went top 8) that totally dropped out after getting left with ADPi, AZD and SDT.
Hard to get a bid from certain houses. Not hard to get a bid if you are willing to go AZD and SDT. So, there it is.

It's NOT hard to get a bid here when you keep an open mind! The only girls who say it is are the ones who will only consider certain sororities and drop out when those drop them.
Stop unnecessarily scaring PNMs. Keep an open mind and you should get a bid as long as you're not a total freak or have a really bad reputation.

yes i do. UT is not at all hard to get a bid from a top sorority compared to most schools. those that say it is difficult to get a bid just had a hard time rushing.

You most likely will get a bid if, like others have said, you keep an open mind. It would be a lie to say rush is easy at UT. Be prepared for hard cuts. Lots of beautiful, accomplished girls get dropped by all/most of Big 6 right after open house, simply due to not having the right connections. If you get cut by a house/houses you love, take a deep breath, cry if you need to (most girls do at some point during rush!), then focus on the houses you have left. There are great girls in each house. Best of luck to you!
