In Texas TCU is he best greek campus followed by UT. Baylor is getting better though.

#1 had it right, TCU is arguably third or fourth and is distantly behind UT and SMU.

2 and 3. SMU's system is older and has more money and better houses than all but UT in Texas, and is arguably the most traditional. They can't even live in the houses at Tech, and TCU has Greek apparents which is definitely holding them back.

Texas and Texas Tech by far have biggest and best Greek systems in Texas. Tech has removed living laws and they have a fine Greek Circle where all the houses are located.

but TCU and SMU probably have just as big Greek systems, and higher Percentage of Greek students. Texas is number 1, but SMU has great houses and one of the oldest and strongest Greek systems in the state and TCU is almost half Greek. I'd put it 1.UT 2. SMU 3. TCU/Tech.

Is nothing more then a bunch of one a be's who couldn't get into the other schools mentioned above. Their greek system is a bunch of losers from high school.

someone who can't spell wannabes... I know kids who got into UT and A&M who went to Tech because they were from West Texas, and quite frankly it's not that hard to get into Baylor or TCU with a big scholarship. I go to UT, but I know smart kids who go to Tech along with some dumb/lazy ones.

Lots of smart West Texas kids choose Tech over UT and A&M because their parents went there. It actually has a loyal following for this who don't want to go far away.

I'd argue that in some ways, SMU and TCU have the strongest Greek systems. UT's Greek life is excellent, but as a proportion of the student population it's very small and you can have a great college experience at UT without being Greek, especially with Austin being such a fun town. At SMU and TCU however, if you're not Greek your social life will really suffer. The percentage of Greeks is so much higher there than UT that all the real fun happens in the Greek system.

in a sense Greek life might be more "dominant" in those schools' social scenes since you won't have too much fun if you aren't Greek, but at the same time, the 15% that's Greek at UT are just as many students as are in the Greek life at those schools. Beyond that, TCU doesn't even have real Greek housing, and while SMU does, they can't have parties at their houses. While it may be more "essential" to be Greek at TCU or SMU than at UT, at best they really don't have any social events that can rival Round Up or even the big build parties that happen several times every semester.

Also, 15% of the student body in Greek life isn't small for a large public institution. Even some of the SEC schools with dominant Greek systems like UGA, LSU and South Carolina are around 15%. Bama and Ole Miss are very unusual having more than 30% in Greek life, and even that is a lot less than small schools like Washington & Lee with almost 90%.

UT's Greek life is nowhere near 15%. There are about 5200 Greeks at UT and that includes every council including Latino, NPHC, Affiliates etc.
