From my perspective, some groups that are strong at UT are not the strongest nationally.
The strongest nationally and regionally are:
KKG, CHI O, APHI, DG, PIPHI
These rarely are bottom anywhere and at their worst are mid tier but frequently top tier wherever they are)
THETA has a strong national reputation but pockets of extreme weakness (hello Alabama, etc!).
These have less national prestige than the above but strong regional appeal in certain areas:
DDD, ZETA, AXO (only top at Alabama), GPHIB (this one is actually the more nationally prestigious of this group but that does not play out regionally for them).
KD, while not "prestigious" nationally, is very solid nationally but rarely top anywhere (except Ole Miss); same with AGD.
ADPI should be prestigious nationally but isn't. Mediocre to weak all over.
These are weak nationally and (usually) regionally:
DZ (their only claim to fame is little ol' SWTSU), SDT (decent at Cornell but weaker everywhere else), AEPHI (brite/strong at UT but average/weak everywhere else), DPHIE, AZD, SK, PSS, SSS, etc

But YOUR chapter is the most important and revered to you, that is were your money, time, and life is for college and the reunions afterwards. Let's not pretend that Natl Cons are that important, afterall when we go
we rep our chapter there also. So what is your point join a "weak" UT house because it is strong somewhere else? Are you a Kappa?

No one at ut cares but once you graduate and are an alum it matters.
