great 8 and pkt
by: 2017Is it true that in this day and time, ranks are basically just 2 groups? That is, either PKT, or now days, the great 8? My sister in PKT said a big 6 reference is becoming obselete.

Not entirely accurate. They were still very good in the 80's and into the early 90's. They did lose their stronghold on Houston and Dallas but were very strong in other cities and towns throughout the state. I remember being amazed by the way they found the best guys from smaller towns.
They were always smaller than the other top houses by design. I don't remember them ever having big pledge classes. Seemed more about quality then quantity. Their house was were always in top leadership roles in Cowboys and Spurs, mixed w/ PKT, DDD and Chi O and had parties with Fiji and SAE.
I remember the mud party and a crash up derby that were not like any other party on campus. I was friends with several of these guys and we would end up here late night after our parties were over. Always had the best parties and bands that played way into the night. So much fun.

Big 6 is still a thing and axo/aphi are thirsty but still swap a bunch with Big 6.
Really, the true test of being a good chapter is if your group has Spur and Cowboy Sweeties.

Well, Cowboys had only one AXO and one APhi sweetheart this time yet DG had SS sweethearts so not sure if this is the best representation.

pkt will always be a thing.. it's always gonna be those three that are seen as the more "exclusive" ones. mommy only has to make one or two phone calls to get you into zeta, but it takes loooottttss of work to get a girl into pkt. I agree, they're not really better for any reason rather than their tradition/history, but they will always be at the top...just saying.

All you have to do is be from certain areas of Dallas and Houston and be well off... not hard. just a certain type of girl
