sophomore rush

by: curious

Is it worth it to try rushing sororitys next year as a sophomore when school starts? What are the pros and cons? I didn't rush this year because some stuff came up but now I can! I know some do spring rush but that's more private.
Thanks!

Not if you keep calling them sororitys.

My bad, sororities. Got lazy typing.

Every year there are girls that go through rush as freshman, get bids from bottom houses only, then re-rush as sophomores and go big six, Alpha phi or Alpha Chi. Definitely worth it. just start making friends with actives now.

I'm in one of those houses and it rarely happens. Only if they actually know a lot of people in those houses, not just made friends with them so they could try to get a bid. We know the difference. Most PNMs who go through recruitment again have a worse outcome than the first time. Don't give them false hope based on a couple of instances of people who became well connected between first and second rush.

no one said it was easy second time around. but yes, it's possible to get one of the top 8 houses.

Yes! I rushed this year. Even if you don't know that many people it feels like a much more laid back process. It's obviously not incredibly easy but as long as you have decent grades, are normal, and can carry a conversation you should be fine for the most part!
