When SigEp's award-winning Balanced Man Program is run right, it is a more challenging experience than pledging. While brothers have the right to membership the day they join, it comes with many responsibilities. Brothers must be engaged their entire time in the chapter, not just the first semester. If brothers do not meet their expectations in each challenge, their membership is lapsed, which can lead to expulsion. Furthermore, the Balanced Man Program challenges brothers to provide the best experience on campus.

Will likely have a nanny from nationals living in the house from January 1st to monitor everything and get the chapter in line with Balanced Man Program and substance-free facility requirements.

Not converting to Balanced Man, not becoming a dry house, not getting a national staff babysitter.

Didn't SAE eliminate pledging because more SAE pledges died pledging than in any other fraternity?

UT SigEp thinks they're too big and too good to play by the new national rules. Probably thinking they'll just pull a KA and have their alumni float them when they inevitably feel the weight of nationals crash down on them. Newsflash: no chapter is too big/wealthy/important for a national organization to take on so much risk.

What risk? There is no risk.

Well it worked for KA, theyre doing well, if KA bent over and took it they'd be where ato and phi delt are now. At a certain point you've got to stand up to nationals trying to shove their foot up your ass.

Thought that KA nationals won that fight.

No Texas Omicron won the lawsuit, basically the only local chapter to ever win a suit against nationals. They're back to KA and are going pretty strong, though not quite at the level they were pre 2011

Seems like SigEp is facing a fork in the road: do every liberal change national is demanding or continue their UT traditions.

SigEp is the most radically left-leaning of all national fraternities.
