by: ConfusedSince this is anonymous can someone please tell me how you choose which PNMs make the cut? I am a senior and I never went through formal recruitment, But I have seen really pretty girls get dropped and girls whom may not be as cute or thin get into top sororities and vice versa. What is it that you guys look into? money first? or looks? or connections?

Mostly connections. A lot is also on the whole package too... Like top tiers want pretty, and smart girls who will fit in to their sisterhood same for the lower tiers !!
What goes into the actual cut/selection is an extremely complication algorithm.
to put it in simple terms just for the sake of simplicity let's say PNM Brooke lists House A B C D E in that order on her rank card. (After round one , going in to round two)
Now if Brooke is not high enough on A , B or C 's list (for the second round) then Brooke will be cut from Houses A B and C
(the cut off number depends on how many girls/quota/etc ; the ranks that sisters of A/B/C gave Brooke factor in to how high she will be on these houses lists)
Ok so what about houses D and E?
well even though PNM Brooke placed house d and e lowest on her rank card .... If House d and e. Invite PNM Brooke back for round two then houses D and E will show up on PNM Brooke's invitations for round two.
That is the basics for all rounds except pref round.
Pref round is slightly similar depending on the school etc but pretty much all the same/ it's the same algorithm as previous rounds
However ...
If you have an extremely good connection with a couple sisters and see that you're a good fit for the sisters house this can really propel you and sisters within the houses can vy for a PNM.

It's about way more than looks. If some girls go into recruitment thinking they'll get a bid because they're pretty and hot they are going to get a big surprise.

For the actual bid lists, the first list has the number of PNM's on it that are expected to be the quota number. Those are the house's top picks for their pledge class and that list is alphabetical (ranking doesn't matter because if any of those girls pref the house #1, they are a bid match).
The second and third lists are in a very specific order. Ie, if 10 girls on the first bid list choose another house (and bid match to that house), the computer will look at #1-10 on the second bid list to see if those girls are available for matching. If 6 of those girls are already matched to another house, the computer looks at #11-16 on the second list. And so forth, until the house makes quota.
Then there are possible quota additions. If a PNM went to 2 pref parties and listed both on her pref card (i.e., maximized her options) and both houses make quota before her name comes up, she will be matched to one of those houses as a quota addition regardless of where she is on their second or third bid list.

It depends on where she falls on her #2's bid list. If #1 and #2 are full, then she would match to #3 (E) because she is on their first bid list.

What if a girl doesn't have connections? like how does one know if they are attractive enough?
