frat reputations

If you had to give a general description of the guys in these fraternities and what tier they are, what would it be? Sigma chi, Sig ep, Fiji, Delt, kappa Sig, KA

Accurate for the most part. When Kappa Sigs house is finished they will probably improve.
For tiers
Fiji
SAE
Sigep
Kappa Sig/Sigma Chi/Delt/KA (interchangeable)

Objectively, those four in general are hard to rank in order because they're different houses with different guys and it's all about where YOU fit in. Don't choose fraternity X over fraternity Y because people are saying X is better if you really feel like you could be best buds with all the guys in fraternity Y, and you think the guys in X are weird. See what I'm saying? You'll have an amazing social life and hang out with really attractive girls in any of those fraternities. and anyone who tells you differently is biased.
Sigep is a step ahead of those and it's observable once you come to UT. Fiji is a step above that and pretty accurately represents what an old row house at Alabama would look like.

What about phi psi and phi delt? What are they like?

Idk too much about them. You'll see there is a line in the Greek sysytem. Fiji, SAE, sigep, kappa sig, zbt, KA, delt, sigma chi are all kind of intertwined in a way. Most of the guys in those above houses are good friends with other guys in the other fraternities listed. That's why you'll see them combine for different events. Lots of them also live together amongst the different houses, especially freshman year. It's because lots of them come from the same hometown, are similar kind of guys, and even though they compete with each other they have respect for each other. Whether you like it or not, most guys in those fraternities are in state Texas kids who grew up in the south/tx, well connected, upper middle class/wealthy, and played sports or were 'cool' in high school. Lots of the guys in lower tier fraternities are either out of state or weren't very "fratty" in high school. So the upper mid/top guys get along.

There are cool guys in phi psi and phi delt. Phi psi and phi delt kind of have random guys who didn't know much about the Greek system coming in. Lots are weird, and they're not great with girls. You'll see it at their rush events. They'll lie to you about the kind of girls they hang out with.

Phi psi had it the worst this year they ended up with like 14 pledges. They have a stereotype for being weird and creepy but I have never met one. It's hard to say what will happen when they build their new house they've been bragging about for 5 years

Damn the last two posts are accurate. There's definitely more comradery between the top 5-7 houses than the other ones.

and there's definitely another drop off after phi psi and phi delt (pi kapp might have some potential) I think the smaller ones pretty much only hang out with spirit groups

Phi Psi has a decent group of guys. Once they get rid of the weirdos(the seniors) and have the new house, it can only get better and better for them. Phi Delt is always trying to compete w/ Phi Psi and other mid tiers but really have t gained any traction. On my experiences and interactions w/ mid tiers, this is how I would rank them.

Delt
Sigma Chi
PIKE/ATO
Phi Psi
Sammy
Phi Delt

Haha where I'm from "fratty" is a negative and you wouldn't want to associate with a frat that's too fratty. At UT Fratty is a good thing?

You're in for quite the culture shock if you're planning on rushing here and don't think that guys raised in a southern, fratty culture are going to dress and act fratty in their fraternities. Good luck

Id like to get info about pi kappa phi from Hhh.

By: What about Pi Kappa Phi?
by: Hhh

Ok, take it with a grain of salt because like phi delt and phi psi, I don't really know much of them so it's hard to make judgements on the whole fraternity. But from what I've seen, they are similar to phi delt and phi psi, maybe considered a tad bit lower? Lots of minorities, I've met a few and they were kind of awkward guys that weren't very "fratty." The one big thing they did this year was combine with phi psi to have ASAP Ferg for roundup. They're also moving into phi psis old house which is a good move for them as it'll put them in west campus. I see these guys moving up to be phi delts main competition, it might still take a couple of years. I think they mainly hangout with azd and spirit groups

Is it a bad thing to have minorities? Sounds like the top tier such as fiji and sae are all white?
