ok what do you actually need for sorority rush
by: fall2016Obviously you need a current photo and a resume...but do you really need rec letters for every house??? Do you really need to go to a local panhellenic council and get a bunch of letters from women who don't know you or???? I am trying to prepare for fall recruitment, and any advice is appreciated!

You need recs. For most sororities these are forms that the alumnae can obtain online from their nationals.
You need to provide your photos, resume, grades and test scores to the person writing the rec for you.
If you really WANT to be in a sorority you need to do this. Otherwise you are lazy, and your name will most likely go to the bottom of the list.
If you really care -- do this NOW for every sorority.

This is UT we are talking about. One of the most competitive recruitments in the south.
Start networking TODAY and get recs.
Unless you have lived under a rock -- there are lots of women in your community that are willing to help if you approach them with respect and are prepared. And please send them thank you notes for their efforts!

Yes, you need recs, but not from random ladies who don't know you. Find sorority alumnae who DO know you & can write a great recommendation- ask your friends' mothers/ sisters, your mom's friends, your neighbors, your teachers & coaches, women from church or other community organizations you're involved with, etc. They do not have to be alumnae of their sorority's Texas chapter.
You are very late to be starting the process for fall rush so get going ASAP before people start leaving town for summer vacation.
You'll need to make a rush packet for each rec writer with your resume and photos. And don't forget to write them thank-you notes!
