transfer

I will be transferring to UW in fall and hope to go through recruitment. I currently attend a big university where fewer than half of the girls going through rush make it into a sorority. It's pretty cutthroat. What is rush like at UW and will I have a chance of making it into a house? I was an AP Scholar in high school and on prom court. I also have participated in my sport at the national level. I am transferring because it actually is easier to get into the business school here than where I attend now. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm going to be transferring to UW as a sophomore. Is it odd for sophomores to rush? Also, will I make and be friends with people in my grade that won't be in my pledge class?

Hey, I rushed as a sophmore and found my sorority! It might be a little bit tougher but a ton of sophmores rushed this year and a lot of them found their sorority! As for making friends, it can be a little tough if you live in the dorms since rush is the 1st week of school, which is when most people will be trying to make friends in the dorms. You will meet lots of people in your classes though, so don't stress too much! Going greek was one of the best choices I've made!

if im a sophomore that transfers to UW and doesn't live in the dorms, will I still be ok? also, when you rushed as a sophomore, did people in your grade that rushed a year earlier than you get to know you and become close friends with them?

I'd say that you'll still make friends outside your pledge class even if you don't live in the dorms. Depending on where you live though, it can have an impact on how many friends you make in your building. Some are more social than others.
I'd say that I've definitely become friends with girls who rushed my sorority as a freshman that are now sophmores, but I will say that I am very close to a lot of the girls in my pledge class too.

I know plenty of sophomores who rushed when I did and made it into DG AXO and aphi, some really good houses. You should be fine
