should i stick with my sorority

by:

Okay, so I'm not sure that I fit in with my sorority. All of the girls are super nice, but I just don't know if they are the types of girls I usually hang out with and if we get along crazy well. I'm a sophomore, so if I drop I wouldn't really have any other options to join Greek life would I? Would I be able to do COB ever? or rush again? Please help me, I really want to be in the Greek community but am not sure this is the place I belong.

If you drop out before you are initiated, you would have to wait an entire year to rush again since you received a bid. So in other words you wouldn't be able to cob. you could rush as a junior but the likelihood that you would get a bid anywhere is very low. Stick with it! To be honest, at this point in time you maybe know like 5-10 girls out of 150+ in your chapter. The odds are that there is someone in your chapter that you are gunna click with

Stick with it!! It's a lot to take in and it can be overwhelming/scary. Just remember that you ended up in the chapter you did for a reason. I'm a senior now, and when I first joined I remembered thinking the same thing that you are now. Now it's senior year and I can't imagine myself anywhere else, and I'm so so glad I never dropped.

Just as an aside, this is the only campus I've ever heard of that people go through rush and join a house, don't like it and go through rush again. I can tell you that at some schools quitting a sorority is the kiss of death and you would never be considered by another house.

Agreed. If she drops, she may have taken someone else's spots be then you wasted all the time and effort of the actives. They took you because they like you, and want you! Good friendships don't always happen overnight. wouldn't take you if this is a bad fit.
Did you get a sorority mentor? Most houses do that, does your house? That is a great opportunity to ask someone about this. Otherwise ask the house president - although that seems like social suicide, she can direct you on who to talk to in the house that will actually help you make the best decision for you.

You put all this time in, just push through, you can always drop right before initiation. I also highly recommend to wait until after you get a big, she will be very helpful with this too. You need to remember that you have to reach out in your house too - you have to introduce yourself to people, fb/text to see what people are up to, and try to go to as many events as possible so that you can maximize your reach.

Think of what the house and members have done to recruit you and your class. If you drop without giving them a chance, that would be unfair. They spend a lot of time honking about who came through their house when they pick members. Give it a shot, you may love it!

The girls don't have to be your bffs. You can be as involved as you want to be. Is it because most of the girls are younger than you? Why not try to get the sophomores in your pledge class together for lunch or something? I didn't really get to know everyone until I lived in. Stick with it. Give the girls a shot.

By all means, be a quitter. It's good to start early if you really want to give up on something without giving it a chance because you could probably quit three or four sororities during your college career if they aren't to your liking. My mom always said "to have a friend you have to be a friend." But that probably doesn't apply to you.
