wealth
by: ScaredAre there houses that really looks for wealthy girls or prioritizes a girl's family wealth when selecting new members? I'm nervous of because while I went to a good high school in a nice area, my family is by no means wealthy and I don't want to get stuck with a bunch of snobs.

there is one house that i personally believe considers wealth when choosing new members---mostly b/c when they describe their sorority on here (or in real life) i often hear "hot, rich" as the two adjectives most used. if you're truly worried about this and want to know which sorority, just look at past discussion posts. should be pretty easy to figure out.

I understand your point, but maybe the majority of the girls in that sorority should stop emphasizing money when talking about themselves and their sorority. It has nothing to do with what your parents do for a living, or even if you come from a wealthy family or not. The fact is that the sorority in question perpetuates that particular stereotype, doing nothing to dispell it. I know a fair number of girls in that sorority, and money and material things are often a central topic of conversation---whether they actually are wealthy or not. I've definitely come away with the impression that money matters a lot to those girls---having it, getting it, whatever.
