by: WisconsinMy little cousin just committed to Wisconsin for next year and is super excited, both for school and rushing a sorority! I am in a sorority at a school where recs are pretty much required, but I don't know anything about Big 10 schools. Do y'all like to get recs for girls going through recruitment, or do you not really need them? She doesn't have her heart set on anywhere but I just want to know if she needs them to have a good chance wherever she wants to go. Thank you!!

Is she hot and have a good personality? if then she'll do fine. However, typically if you know a couple actives in a sorority during rush they'll give her more of a chance if they like her. It helps if she knows people but that's not really the deciding factor in most cases.

Get them if you can. No need to bend over backwards but if there are some that are easy to get, I don't know why she wouldn't. The rec letters can only help. Plus, while Wisco isn't Mizzou, Indiana, Illinois or Miami of Ohio in terms of Midwest schools with competitive sorority rush, make no mistake, it's slowly getting up there.

Out of state girl who knew absolutely nobody coming here. I got recs because my grandma wanted to right one for me, but all my friends didn't get them. I'm in a top tier and rush really isn't that competitive here. For me, it had nothing to do with putting on a show for the top house or making sure you reapplied your lip gloss, but when you were at a house you meshed well with, the conversation was very easy going and fun, you could tell that the active was having a good time, and time flew( which is saying something when you're in a crowded un-air conditioned room in August). Everyone is given just as much of a shot whether they have recs or not and everyone truly finds their place :)

I'm probably biased, but I think she's pretty cute (it's tough to call your little cousin hot) and is definitely pretty social and outgoing. She's just OOS and not many people from our area go to Wisconsin so I'm not sure what to expect or where else to go to for advice. I don't want to scare her into getting recs for all the houses if they're not needed, but I also want to make sure she does get them if she needs them since she doesn't really know anyone there!
