something i heard
by: ...I heard some girl got into Kappa cause her mom knew an older girl's mom (lived in the same hometown) and she told the older girl that she should let this girl in the house. If it's true, which I hope it's not, thats super dirty on both parts and makes me lose respect for the Greek system. Someone please tell me this isnt true!

1. Yes, all houses do this sort of thing because it's called a recommendation--like in the real world when you get a referral for a job
2. Just because you have a recommendation (or may even be a legacy to a house) doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a bid
3. Because getting a bid also requires you to connect and have great conversations with all the girls you meet at a house during rush (think of them as mini-interviews)

I mean I don't even go to this school, im still in high school, and get what you're saying but the whole thing seemed like backdoorish. like because this girl's mom was friends with an active's mom, an active high up in the ranks, and like her mom "got" her in. i get it's how the real world works, total reality check on my part

My house did it, usually turned out the girl was a PERFECT fit, even when recommended by distant alum. Very rarely did we get recommends for people who did not like our house or did not fit. I got a few of my friends bids too, They were really great fits and I did not do this for people I knew who were not interested or a bad fit. Kinda a natural selection for people that were strong fits for us. And my house was not in the top but I won't say where in the middle or bottom. It helps good fits and the houses they fit well find each other faster, IMO.
