sorority comments

#32by: here it is 2
AXO - jsut like DG, but a little wierder. seriously fun but and overachievers. probably the wealthy midwestern sorority. Like a midwestern A E Phi. very diverse.
Tri-Delt - actually a diverse mix, they are just REALLY bad at rush. most are quiet and shy but REALLY FUN (BIG partiers)
Pi Phi - ditsy girls, midwestern. sorry but kinda airheaded. sorry!
there really is NOT a bad sorority. it is just who you are. if you see the girls leave their house in a pack to go out on the weekends you can DEFINITELY see none are bad but VERY distinct and UNIQUE. I think anyone would love being in one and could fit in and like one of the houses.
#33by: interesting...
...that almost every house in the post below is compared to DG? Seriously ladies, your house is a top 3 house, but self-ranking makes you look bad. You didn't have a good rush, but no need to overcompensate by posting passive-aggressive bs about other houses.
#34by: list
#35by: re:re:list
Agree with first list post more than second. Especially in terms of the Chio and Aephi thing. Chio is just a better sorority overall at Wisconsin. Aephi is just really narrow in its mutual selectivity. Plus, Theta is one of the least selective sororities on campus. They take anyone. Pi Phi is much more selective. Also, Gamma Phi is just as selective as Kappa and DG. They're all really similar.
#37by: so over it
Um, most of the houses are at total after fall rush. If a fall pledge class is smaller than another (but still at quota), it's just because the sorority is already at or over total. If a house has a huge pledge class, it's because they were a small house to begin with, and were allowed to take more pledges. Do your homework. Only about half of the sororities have to do spring rush, and it's consistently the same houses: Aphi, TriDelt, Theta, Chio, PiPhi (I think last year was the first year in FOREVER that they didn't have to---good for them) and sometimes AXO. Kappa, Aephi and SDT have rarely done spring, and Gamma Phi and DG do it maybe once every 5 years. Spring has a lot to do with retention.
#38by: re:re:so over it
Actually, I'm involved with the overall rush process at UW, and re:so over it is wrong. The houses that have only a spot or two open at spring do COB, and don't participate (formally) in the spring rush process. Noone "forces" any house to do spring rush, not even nationals. Last year, we had a situation where a house's nationals strongly encouraged them to participate in spring rush, but they only had 3 spots open. So, instead the chapter decided to hold some COB events rather than participate in spring rush with the other houses. And, juniors and seniors DO count against quota. At some schools they don't, but at UW they do. Houses can snap bid in the fall if they don't make quota OR if they aren't up to campus total after taking their new pledge class (which I believe is currently approx. 126). Currently, MOST houses are at or over total. Re:so over it apparently does need to do her homework, and it sounds like she may not even attend Wisconsin based on her assertions.
#39by: re: re:so over it
Also, just wanted to point out that, historically, "so over it" was mostly correct about the houses that generally participate in Spring Rush. Except that I don't believe that Aephi or Kappa has ever (or at least recently) participated in Spring. Gamma Phi, SDT and DG rarely do, either. That doesn't mean that any of these houses haven't conducted their own COB or COR process, because some of them have very recently.
