a question for the guys
by: HmmWhat makes a sorority top tier? Is it looks, money and/or attitude? Seems lke the "top" six houses look the same. What makes gamma phi>kappa>dg? Is it urban legend? Maybe kappas and gamma phis have a bit more attitude, but overall I really can't tell a difference. Looking from the outside, dg=axo=pi phi=aphi. Btw, I'm a freshman thinking about going through rush next year.

it's desirability (both by frats and by girls rushing), looks, personality, self-confidence, outgoing-ness. $ really has nothing to do with it. all the sororitys have $. i mean, what makes an individual popular? it's usually looks, personality, confidence, outgoing-ness and/ or talent/ability. it's basically the same with sororitys (and frats for that matter). imo:
gphi=kkg
dg=axo
piphi=aphi
xo=aephi
theta=ddd
sdt is sorta in a category by itself
axid is too soon to tell

it boils down to a function of primarily looks but also personality.
for example, this site puts gphi and kappa at the top. kappa is hotter, but gphi is viewed as the best house? why? because they attract nice girls.
pi phi now gets the quality of girls that alpha phi used to when I was a freshman (I'm a junior). but people say pi phi is sliding because the girls that they are getting have taken the 'pi phi ratchet' thing much too far.
tridelt ~theta? both same looking, but tridelts are often socially inept their freshman year and it shows.

It comes down to looks and personality. Personally, I'd choose Gphi, DG or AXO over Kappa any day. Those 3 houses have a good mix of good looking, fun, and nice girls you can actually hang with and talk to. Whereas in my experience with Kappa, yes they're hot but they are also incredibly stuck up and conceited.

People always assume every girl wants to be in Kappa, GPhi, AXO or DG. And if you don't agree with everything that says they are the best then you must be someone who was rejected by them and is so "disgruntled" and can't get over it. There are at least 2 of those I had no desire to be in when I went through rush, one I would be ok with if I got a bid, and the remaining one was a tie with another sorority (not mentioned) that I really liked. Not everyone thinks they are the best sororities and want to be in them.

You are def a girl and a b$&?!y one to boot. I wrote "top" six NOT "top six" a subtle difference, but a difference nonetheless. Yes, there can be a top half and a bottom half. My point is I really can't tell the difference.
