basketball philanthropies

Dear Kappa, DG, and now AEPhi:

Come up with original philanthropies instead of stealing Kappa's which they've done for a long time now. Doesn't change the fact that these are TERRIBLE philanthropies that raise no money, but come on have at least SOME dignity in coming up with your own.

I kind of have to agree. But is any other philanthropy event as useless and dumb as DGs Delta Glam??? Is that a fundraising event for their philanthropy? How much money can you raise by putting make up on some girls and doing their hair to go out to the bar after?? Not a great way to raise money, especially when you hold an event that 50% of the population has no reason to attend.

I think it's more that sororities in general don't put much effort into their philanthropy. Think about it usually it's 5 girls planning/organizing and the rest show up in their shirts and wave signs around.

What's wrong with that? The same can be said for fraternities...usually only a few people actually plan it, the rest just show up/participate. Come to think of it, that's how most events in life are orchestrated.

This just plain doesn't make sense. Dear Kappa....stop stealing Kappa's event? wut. Plus, anchor slam is a national event so hop off. I'm a huge fan of AEPhi's flag football, I don't see any other houses providing this option. Kappa is the one house that hasn't had a consistent philanthropy ever since Ive been here, and I'm a senior.

Anchor slam is basketball, Anchor Splash is swimming. Taken directly from wikipedia... "The most common Delta Gamma fundraisers for Service for Sight are Anchor Splash[12] and Anchor Slam. Many collegiate chapters participate in one of these events, with the decision being largely dependent on the climate in which the school is located."

not true. alpha phi and tri delt both raised over 20 grand last year. The only bigger ones than that are ski for cancer and derby days
