What about the quality of those women though? Yay or nay?

AXiD got a LOT of re rushers (girls that have gone through two, three times and not gotten a bid elsewhere), some of which are definitely questionable reputation wise.

They also got quite a few girls that I was shocked didn't end up going Kappa, GPhi, etc.

Quality > Quantity.

I've only seen pics, so I can't really comment, but I did see atleast one freshman girl from formal rush that I was shocked didn't go gphi, dg or kappa. I'm assuming that she dropped out of rush. Do you know if the rest of the girls that you were shocked about dropped from rush? Or did they not get bids? Just wondering, b/c the girl I'm thinking about had some really close high school friends go gphi and dg. I can't imagine that she was cut from those houses.

What does "definitely questionable reputation wise" mean? I personally know people who have re-rushed and they are great girls!

i think "axd" meant that there were a few re rushers that had questionable reputations that got bids, not that all of the re-rushers that ended up in Alpha Xi were questionable.

All houses have at least a very few members with questionable reps. I am really excited to see so many people joining AZD and that we get another sorority. Its about time! I hope that all the greeks, frats and sororities, can continue to welcome them, include them, and be positive about them. It would be pretty exciting to be a charter member. I really hope they can get a house right away. Congrats AZD ladies!

Does anyone know if AXiD has a house? I would think that a physical house would be high on the priority list, since most rushees want to live-in.

According to their consultants, they got 112.

that's not true cuz my fraternities' jrs live in there and they still have the option to renew their lease

Wrong context. "Actually" is referring to number of members, not a potential house. Plus, 112 is apartments (very underrated ones at that).

I'd imagine they'd look into some of those houses in the 100 block on the other side of the street (near Chi O and Evans Scholars). There's a couple nicer, bigger houses that I assume could easily be gutted and fitted into a sorority house.

Assuming they currently have 110-120 New Members (congrats to all!), they probably want to get up to average chapter size, which is more like 160-170. They could do this by doing more recruitment this fall, or this spring, or (likely) both. I would ask their consultants. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to answer, and they would be the most knowledgable.

It's unlikely that they will do more recruitment this fall. They had over 300 girls rush, so there were a lot of cuts. I have some friends that didn't even get invited to pref night.

sorry about your friends not getting to pref anywhere, my heart goes out to them. You'd be surprised how great a lot of the women are who get less than 3 or not houses to pref. I am an alum and one of my favorite sisters only preffed 1 house but it was a really poor fit for her. She was shy at rush but is a really fun and sweet person. My house took 3 people in COB and spring that were really great too. Rush can get so awkward at times. I really wish the best to your friends and I hope that they don't give up! Please keep us posted as to what they do!

You mentioned your house took 3 girls in COB and spring, would you mind sharing what house you are in? I was just invited back to a house for COB, and I'm nervous about how good my chances are at getting a bid. Do you have any insight on that or advice?

It depends on whether or not you went through formal rush or if you know anyone in the house. Is it a COB recruitment event? Is it just a house event they are already having and using as a COB event. I always felt like spring rush and COBs got an unfair advantage so I bet your chances are much better than formal recruitment, especially if they know anything about you and they more they know the better the chances probably are - Facebook, friends in the chapter, you went through recruitment [even if they cut you, recruitment is so competitive not that I feel like a lot of houses cut people they love only because they do not have room for them]. I think the unfair advantage comes from how low-pressure COB is on the sorority members and the COB guests - conversations are a lot easier. One COB we took in the fall was someone we all really liked and we all talked about what happened because she seemed into us too. Eventually, we found out she got cut and no one, except our recruitment officers, knows why. we may have just had a really strong recruitment that year, ran out of invites, she ranked us low and changed her mind later, we ran out of invites.... who knows.

I think all sororities are well-aware that recruitment can overwhelm people so that some people are not themselves during formal recruitment. However, you can still not get a bid through a COB event, I've seen that happen too - especially for grades. GOOD LUCK and please post what happens!

I am an alum from long enough ago that no one will know what house and I don't want to say because of how nasty people can get on here. Far more sororities have new members drop throughout the pledging process, or that don't show up to bid day, than people will admit here. From friends in a few other houses I had, I know that COB can be for similar reasons and chances can be similar there too. Good luck, make sure to post what happens. I hope it all works out well for you!
