will gphi stay in the top tier?

by: I don't get it

Based on the comments on here they seem to be seriously slipping. Girls were just ok this year, on the whole, about on par in looks with AXO, Aphi and Piphi. Plus, they only have one philanthropy a year and while it's fun and well attended, not sure how much it actually raises in donations. Perhaps they are on top simply because of history but after this year, their rank seems very vulnerable.

They really don't do much. Their reputation is built on all the hype and propaganda they create on this website. Definitely do not live up to their hype as a sorority or in how "hot" they are. They have a variety of of looks throughout their sorority from the very attractive to pleasant average. Just like every other sorority on Langdon. They could do better in philanthropy too.

I actually agree with most of what you said except the part about the fact that their rep is based on this website. That might be part of it but they do put on a great recruitment and are always one of the most desirable houses for pnms to want to go back to.

First of all, who cares? The whole system is getting stronger, we have a new sorority comkng on---can't people just be happy with that?
That said, everyone knows that top tier at Wisco is basically set in stone. All 3 houses have been various versions of 1-3 for the last TWENTY years. Like I laid out in my pledge class post, gphi's 2014 PC might not be as amaze as last years, but it's still really good. I didn't rank them before, but I would say they are tied for top class (with kappa, UGH). And unfortunately no one cares about a sorority's philanthropy---that is definitely something I learned in my 4 years as an active. If they did, tridelt would be top tier. Besides, grilled cheese might be barely passable as a philanthropy, but it's one of the best known/most well-attended. Point is, sorry girls, but gphi isn't moving down anytime soon unless something catastrophic happens. And for the record, I don't think they are "running" this site---so stupid. There are several sororities that have an active presence on this site (including my own, unfortunately), but not them. Between this and the AXO pledge class post, I am so glad that I'm a 5th year and somewhat removed from this ish---it's all tear down the girls on top and bully the girls on the bottom. It's been interesting to see it from outside the bubble.

I think Wow and hmmm are the same person. She keeps insisting how Gphi is running this ANONYMOUS site and whenever someone comes here to defend them she alleges they are a Gphi. The reason she's so bitter is probably because she got cut and/or she is a really sad, cynical person that can't begin to imagine how girls can possibly stick together no matter the letters they wear.

It's interesting how every sorority, except GPhi, can be critiqued and criticized on this website. Some of those comments can be quite cruel and those sororities are basically told to shut up if they try to defend themselves. However, if someone does have an opinion that goes against GPhi being the best, then someone comes on ranting about how things are set in stone, ranks will never change, and GPhi will always be the best.

I'm not saying that gphi is/isn't the best. And I actually have defended other sororities (including my own) that get bashed on here big time. For some reason though, any time anyone defends either GPhi or Aphi, someone gets hyper-accusatory about running this website. Honestly, it's all rooted in jealousy---either that gphi has been considered the top sorority by most for the last few years or that Aphi has managed to do something no one else in our Greek system has done in decades---actually move up in the ranks. As for the maturity comment, swearing's never going to be the litmus test for that, but tearing down whole organizations based upon speculation and/or envy definitely is.

You definitely got cut from Gphi. Your vendetta is scary because no one has said they are "the best" only you.

I agree with "super sr" when she says "tearing down a whole organization based upon speculations and/or envy" is immature. Unfortunately, that is what goes on on this website most of the time, with every sorority being the target at one time or another and some more than others. I would love to one day see each sorority come on here and say what the good qualities of their sorority are and what they love about it. Not what tier they are, how hot they are, how they are better than others or how popular they are, or who they have socials with.......I believe there is more to a sorority than those things.

nope, not slipping. I don't think anyone understands how limited social mobility is with sororities. Maybe their PC is amazing (btw I have no idea if it is or not) maybe it isn't. One PC doesn't define a sorority. To drop/slip/whatever, a top house would have to get put on probation, not have any mixers with good frats and have 4 years of bad recruitment (so all the girls from the "good" era are replaced). I don't think that's going to happen to any house here

Sororities dont move up and down like frats. They don't get kicked off. They don't throw parties and have social functions. All the rankings are based upon are recruitment and that pretty much stays the same year to year. My parents went here 30 years ago and when I asked them which houses were good back then, they responded with an almost identical opinion as holds true now.

Honestly, we hang with GPhi cuz they're fun, plain and simple. Yeah some are hot too, but that's a bonus, not a reason. They're fun and comfortable with themselves. Other sororities (alpha phi) I feel like every social interaction is a piece of a game. It's off putting.
