It isn't really about the PNM's 1st choice rather than what sorority wants you?
A sorority chooses you and competes for the PNM rather than a PNM trying to get into a sorority

So if they pref you does that mean that they want you?

Not necessarily. After pref there are no cuts made, rather each chapter creates a bid list that contains every girl that returned for pref. in the ideal world, each chapter wants their top 60 or 70ish girls on that bid list, but obviously that doesn't happen, so they work their way down their list until they hit quota. Each chapter depending on how well they recruit will hit quota at different spots on their bid list. So basically it depends where you fall on that list. Just because you are in the top of a sorority's bid list that wasn't your top choice, doesn't mean that you are going to be in that chapter. Just because you aren't at the top of a bid list for your number 1st doesn't mean you won't be in their house either. It's done by a computer algorithm that optimizes people's best options and finds the best match for both pnms and the chapter. Hope that better explains it. Either way, if you don't receive your top house, don't worry, and give where ever you receive a bid a shot! It sound cliche, but people really do end up where they belong!

How long will the festivities last tomorrow? What happens after you get your bid?

you'll open your bid card in your rush group, and it is so exciting to see which girls are going to be in your pledge class right away. everyone typically then walks over to a big auditorium with every chapter and you go find your house and meet your new sisters! then there is a short presentation to psych you up even more for greek life and the rho gammas reveal which house they are in! after that each house leaves one by one and marches/runs back to their house for bid day festivities.

bid day is such a fun, exciting day. it can be a bit overwhelming but just enjoy it and just remember that all other pnms are feeling slightly awkward for not knowing everyone right away. trust me, a few months from now when you are bffs with your sisters you will laugh about the awkwardness of bidday and look back on the pictures.

OH also expect to get about 150+ friend requests on fb when you get home :):):):):)AHHH GET PUMPED

Thanks for answering! Do you know how long we have to be at the house? Basically, what time will things wind down and it's ok to leave or is it an all afternoon/night thing. I have something to do tomorrow night and I don't want to cancel but I also don't want my new sisters to think I'm not excited.

I mean like every house has different celebrations planned so it really depends on what you end up doing. honestly though I would try to cancel whatever you have tomorrow because you only have one actual bid day of your life and its a really fun and exciting time. plus you are going to meet girls who you (hopefully) will be friends with for the next four years and its never too early to start bonding and forming friendships

Don't look at it as how long do you "have" to be at the house. As soon as everything starts, you'll be having a ton of fun. I would definitely cancel your other plans if you can. You're going to be excited the rest of the night and be talking about it with your friends and already starting to get to know your pledge sisters. Have fun!
