Grade Cuts Here?
by: WonderingI opted to attend UW rather than staying in-state on a big campus with a very competitive greek system. I am wondering about grade cuts. At the school I also considered attending you couldn't get past the first round or into a decent house without at least a 3.8 high school GPA, with lots of AP classes, leadership, other talents. How strict are grade cuts here? What do I have to look forward to during recruitment?

Is that true? Where I'm from almost 50% of women drop out of recruitment because they aren't happy with the houses who ask them back. Some really outstanding girls are disappointed because they didn't make grade cuts. And who you know doesn't count for much at all. Now I'm scared.

It's a very cliquey system, primarily based on who you know and where you went to high school. But there are some houses that seek diversity, including geographical diversity. It might not be for you, but give it a try because you might be surprised. You can always drop (and lots of girls do).
