question about fraternity life
by: FreshmanI'm Curious about frats like Theta Chi, Fiji and the lodge. I'm going to be a freshman next year and was hoping someone can clear this up for me. Do all these frats have full social calendars? I'm not worried about hanging out with kappas vs like A phis but like i just wanna have a good time in college and chill with girls.

I'm not too sure about the Lodge, they have a cool house, don't have a huge presence but I'll assume they do alright. OX and FIJI both do fine for themselves considering they aren't quite on par with the Big 5 fraternities on campus. Full social calendars, I don't know exactly, but both have their own niches with sororities. Not sure what the new OX house will do but I will say that you most likely won't have a problem socializing joining either one.

fiji and theta chi are pretty widely thought to be more socially present than the lodge but they all party
right now:
socially: fiji is thought of as slightly better than theta chi (but this could very well change in a few years due to ox's new house) and then there's a drop off between them and the lodge.
house wise: fiji's and theta chi's new house are about the same size. theta chi's will be the nicest of the 3 (and possibly all of langdon) when it's done. both the lodge and fiji's are on the lake. the lodge's has the most personality
girls: fiji and theta chi kinda split the same niche of girls, dont know about the lodge tho.
honestly, I'd recommend looking more into theta chi and fiji if you were looking for a sound social experience, they both seem to be stable and even on the upswing. Not saying anything negative about the lodge, i just dont hear about its social life/parties-but maybe that's just cuz of who my sorority hangs out with
either way, you seem like a down to earth person and I'm sure any of those 3 houses would take interest in you.

Roommate is dating an OX and she says they have a lot of sophomores and freshmen so they'll need time to catch up. But yeah I'd give fiji the edge now

Theta chi and fiji are both on the upswing in terms if popularity. They both have solid groups of brothers, fun parties that girls like and have (or will hve) beautiful houses. While neither of them are "big 5", they have the most potential out of anyone to end up there. Id strongly suggest looking into both of them.
The lodge is more laid back frim what i can tell, it would worry me that despite having numbers and a nice house-they dont emphasize their social calendar as much. But ive never heard bad things about them

All three have great potential. I'll comment on the lodge first- they do have a full social calendar every semester(5-8) from my friends jn the lodge have told me. While they might not be as sociable as Fiji, they do they have a great brotherhood. My recommendation would be to check out every place on campus and see what fits for you. My biggest regret is joining a place because of these rankings.,, I ended up hating it and dropping. Check every place out with an open mind! Other info I can give you about this place is that theta chi has about 75 members, the lodge has been growing a lot with two big classes these last semsters ... They're at about 100 now and Fiji is around 95 I'd say.

As a member of one of these 3 houses, I can honestly say we have a full social calendar and on the nights that there isn't something going on, the brothers decide to either go to the bars together or to just hangout.
On the size, all 3 houses are between 95-110, but at least in the case of my chapter, it's by choice, cuz as you increase size a lot, it kills brotherhood cuz you don't know the people outside your pledge class that well.
You'd do well to rush any of the 3, they all are on the upswing and all have good brotherhoods/social lives

Pretty spot on. I haven't seen or heard really anything from the Lodge. It is a bit strange that they don't push their social calendars, I feel like they are wasting an opportunity with their house.
Fiji probably is above Theta Chi socially, but I think next year will be interesting. However, having a nice new house isn't going to automatically make them better, they're going to have to utilize their assets. Girls like spending time at the fiji house, its a nice house on the lake that theta chi doesn't have, so that will always be an advantage. But the new, and big, house will certainly help. Time will tell.
