Rush at UW is both harder and easier than you think

Hi incoming freshmen girls. Every year one of the questions every girl rushing has is ‘how hard is rush at UW?’ It is both easier and harder than you have heard. What I mean by that is that if you really want to be in a house and keep an open mind until the end you will almost certainly get a bid. However there are 3-5 houses that are EXTREMELY competitive. They make big cuts (because they have to) in the early rounds. This is because very few girls cut these houses. If you go into rush only wanting one of these houses you will probably be disappointed.

There are great girls at every house. You can make lifelong friends at every house. My advice is to not get your hear set on one house but be open to several. If you are cut by a house you thought you wanted or kept you one you tried to cut look at it as a second chance to get to know girls who really want to get to know you! I really hope everyone has a nice rush this year!
