How hard is rush?
by: PNM2025I think I want to rush in the Fall but keep getting conflicting info. First how hard is it to get a bid? I have had some people tell me it is a laid back rush and others say is lot of people get cut. I heard you need recs and have heard you don’t need them? Also are there houses that are more active than others? I don’t want to join only to go to meetings. I want to meet people!

Rush at Wisconsin is actually more competitive than people realize. Most people who stick it out to the end of rush will end up with a bid. However what no one wants to tell you is that everyone wants the same 5 houses and those five are extremely competitive. GPhi, Kappa, and Aphi are very very selective. Their cuts are huge! Because so few girls cut those houses and they have to make huge early round cuts. They cut a lot of girls. To get into one of those houses you basically need to be flawless and have someone in the house pulling for you.
I know some houses are not using recs now so connecting with someone in the house is really important!
The level of involvement and activity varies from house to house. The top 5 are probably the most active and that is why they are top.
