sorority recruitment 2014
by: Questions!I'm a senior in high school, but I plan on attending this school next year and I really want to know what to look forward to during rush. What do the houses on the row look for in a sister? Anything specific? I know at some schools houses can tell who they want in their house just by looking at their application, recs, and as soon as they walk through the door? How important are recs and who should I get recs from considering that no one else in my family has gone Greek. How many recs should I get? And why was this year competitive and other years weren't? Do you think It'll be hard to get into a house next year?

You can get recs from any girls you know who are already in a sorority either here or at another school. They are not necessary though unless you're trying to get a specific house--then you may want one just to make yourself stand out before recruitment even starts. Sororities all look for different things in a sister but overall they want girls who are 1.) similar to them in personality or interests and 2.) could bring something new or different to the chapter, a potential leader. Be GENUINE. I can't stress that enough. Of course you'll be nervous because you want to impress us but we're nervous too when we have to spend 8 hours a day recruiting and trying to make our house appeal to you all. More than that pleeeease keep an open mind. I mean really. Of course people want to be in top tier houses for the status but honestly, no matter where you get a bid, it was probably meant to be. And i know this from experience. I was displeased on bid day and wanted to drop but I was encouraged to stick with it for at least a semester and now I could not be happier. And if you keep an open mind, there's almost no way you'll end up without a bid. Just stick through recruitment no matter what happens
