questions about sororities

by: Future uw mom

Dear Kids,

I am a mom of a daughter who will likely attend UW and rush next fall. I was wondering how big the pledge classes are at the traditional Panhellenic sororities. What year(s) do the girls usually live in the house? Are there houses where being from the Chicago area will be a disadvantage rushing? What are the general costs to be a member? Thanks!

Love,

Mom

The classes are usually about 500 each, girls usually live in as 5th years, don’t even bother rushing from Chicago because they definitely won’t get in, dues usually run from $25-50.

Pledge classes about 75-80
Lots of students from Chicago
Dues are listed on the UW Madison website— look under Greek Life Panhellenic costs

Each house takes from 50 to 90 members, the cost is about $1500 per year on average, and yes they take a ton of people from Chicago, no worries mom
