is sorority rush competitive?
by: freshmanI’m going to be a freshman here this fall and want to join a sorority. I don’t care about being in a “top tier” sorority, I would be happy joining any of the chapters here. I wanted to know if getting into even a less popular sorority is difficult and if I should be getting recs. Thanks!

Don't let @hey scare you. Larger numbers of pnm's just means larger New Member classes, not more competition among pnm's for spots. There is not a set number of bids before recruitment starts; Quota is not established until the Pref round and if you make it to this round you are on the bid list somewhere. Everyone goes to all the houses first round. After that, each house is only allowed to invite back so many pnm's based on their historical percentages. So while releases happen each round, it really is better this way so you can concentrate on the houses that are asking you back. Do everything you can to help yourself out, including getting alumnae to write recs for you.

So do you mean that girls get dropped entirely from the process on the first day or dropped from many chapters?
