how many sophomores can be taken?

In some sororities is there a limited cap at how many sophomores they can take? A friend told me that yesterday and I was wondering if it was true or not

Nobody knows specifically how any chapter but the one they are in does recruitment. As far as I know, this doesn’t seem to be the case for my chapter. A lot of the time chapters don’t even set the specific rules for the majority of recruitment, but the panhellenic council at their school does. You’d be better off asking a panhellenic exec member, which you will likely have the chance to do.

I think you must be confused about the upperclassmen quota. There is a freshmen quota and a separate upperclassmen quota. These quotas apply to all sororities during recruitment and work to everyone's advantage. Upperclassmen under their own quota don't have to compete with freshmen for spots. While this gives upperclassmen a much better chance, no sorority has to take anyone. Quotas are not set until the pref round. If you are asked to pref by a house, you are on their bid list somewhere.

Thats super helpful, thanks! So is it almost easier for sophomores to get bids because they have less competition compared to freshman?

No, it's not easier or harder, it's just a more level playing field. It means that upperclassmen aren't automatically released in favor of freshmen. You still have to be a good fit for a sorority to invite you back. Good luck.
