rush week
by: KGGHey ya'll! I am officially commited to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and have a few questions on the Greek Life. I have done tons of research, talked with several UW Greek girls, and asked some alum about it but I am still confused about a couple things. For rush week, what is the general process/what do we wear/how do you decide on what sorority? I am pretty confident I am interested in Kappa Kappa Gamma, Delta Gamma, or Gamma Phi Beta? What are your opinions on these sororites?

Well, welcome to Madison. I'm glad you're considering being a part of Greek Life here. But let me say right away, be VERY careful about deciding or being "confident" what sororities you're interested in before you get here and see them all for yourself. You will hear the term "mutual selection" many times with respect to recruitment here, and that's what it is- a mutual selection process. You rank the sororities after each round, and they rank you.
EVERY CHAPTER AT THIS UNIVERSITY IS IMPRESSIVE. Even the chapters that have 3 or fewer stars on here regarding "Popularity" are solid groups with great sisterhood, lovely historic homes, and plenty of opportunites for involvement during college and even after.
Once you register for recruitment, you'll get a booklet that will explain the rounds, what people wear (usually fairly casual in the first two rounds- it will be HOT), and get information about selections from your Rho Gammas.

Above is a very good response. If others respond with actual opinions regarding the houses your mentioned, I would take it with a grain of salt. Chances are their opinions will be extremely positive or extremely negative, depending on the nature of the responder. The truth probably lies somewhere in between. Good luck with recruitment!
