legacy

From my personal experience, it doesn't seem like DG is as much concerned with legacies as legacies who are a good fit. My little sister went through recruitment last year (I'm a DG from another school) and they cut her. At the end of the day, knowing the people I know at Wisconsin in her current chapter and in DG, she definitely found a better fit in the end. So I'm kind of glad they didn't just take her to take her as a legacy.

Just one perspective though! Maybe it's because I went to a different school and not Wisconsin, though I know other DG friends who do have little sisters who joined DG here.

DG had been known, nationally in the near past, to post their new member numbers with their legacy numbers. In comparison with other groups on the same campuses during the same recruitment events, DG pretty much always had a higher % number of legacies join as new members. I've always taken those numbers I've read to mean that overall and nationwide DG looks more favorably upon actually pledging legacies. And apparently a lot of DG legacies really want to be DG new members.

I think its jsut because DG at Madison has so many legacies go through recruitment more than them actively giving much favoritism to them. Most houses will drop a legacy if they think the legacy will not like it, no one wants to have a legacy deactivate.
