where you're from (out of state $), well-groomed and expensive clothes/bag, where you live on campus, what you do for fun (ride horses and water ski is more expensive than going to movies)....

Really anything you do has a price tag, so if al your hobbies and favorite places and things are pricey, you will come off as being from money or at least as having expensive taste.

Also, fresh and regularly maintained mani-pedi. A lot of people begin cost-cutting there. Same goes for expensive hair. Someone who's color/highlights looks nice and has a flattering and stylish cut. a nice cut and color can run up to $200. .... and if you do it every 6 weeks....

approx 9 times per year (so you can get a holiday touch-up on top of your normal hair) x 200 = $1,800 for YOUR HAIR....

mani/pedi, with gel, can run about $60. Usually people get these done every other weekish, with extra touchups for things like recruitment and holidays

26 x $60 = $1,560..

SO... $3,360 per year just at the salon. I'm not judging, just pointing out why this is often a first sign that someone is either terrible with their money or has a large money source.

sororities do not care about money. To be honest I barely could remember people's faces and names during rush let alone if their hands were manicured. Just try to have a good conversation that is authentic and not just about where you live/ what classes you're taking and you'll stand out 2000x more than what brand your shoes are.

We do not care at all. Yes, we do know what areas are richer but the odds of the rusher remembering where you said you're from (or caring) are so slim. We talk to so many girls, we just want to have fun, memorable conversations.

also zip code...like if your zip code indicates you are from some ritzy suburb of chicago, ny, la, etc...there is obviously a higher chance you are rich than a zip code that is some small, rural town in central WI. Not saying there are no middle class people in ritzy areas, and no rich people in rural areas. But the odds are not as likely.

If you're visibly wealthy and you suck, you won't get a bid. If your dad doesn't drive a Range Rover but you're cool af, you'll probably get a bid. Seriously, money matters much less than you think. First and foremost, personality matters. If the value of a top-tier PNM and money are correlated...well then I can't speak on that. Just be yourself.

I don't think Kappa is intentionally pursuing wealthier girls. They tend to pursue girls who are like them, and since the majority of the house has money, the majority of girls like them also have money. But if they otherwise love you and you're middle-class, it's not like they'll refuse to give you a bid because of that.

But if a house only wanted to bid rich girls, it wouldn't be that hard to figure out. Hometown, clothes and appearance, what activities you did in high school, what you did over the summer (traveling vs. working), where you're living, any friends you and the person rushing you have in common, what your parents do for work, what you're majoring in, whether you have a job during the school year--all of these can point out class pretty obviously if you know what you're looking for.

Why clean up some media 6 to 9 months before if they don't even know who is rushing. I'm a freshman planning to rush next year

No house bases it off money. First of all, not allowed to talk about stuff like during recruitment. Second of all, it's hard enough to remember the name of who we talked to during first rounds (so busy) let alone what your manicure looked like...
