For sororities the summer months are usually reserved for no contact regarding recruitment. That doesn't mean you can't go to ball games, the park, the gym or on a cruise with your sorority friends. That just means in-depth discussions about their specific sorority memberships should be avoided. Sorority women during school break will speak with a panhellenic voice meaning when they speak about sororities they are pro-joining any sorority (IE not just theirs). It may seem impossible due to recent social media explosion and some think it's old fashioned but we believe it to be a fair system of understanding that each group is worthwhile in its offerings for the PNMs, and no group is beneath consideration.

I know a girl whose roommate in her apt. was rushing. She didn't like avoid her or not speak to her. They carried normal conversation, just didn't bring up recruitment.

Please turn to your friends and family etc who are in fraternal orgs asap, don't wait until July. You want to have the summer free for fun before school starts. They should be able to gently and politely guide your efforts but don't forget to do a little work digging on your own, at better websites than this one, in search of fraternal information.
