what was your experience rushing as a sophomore?

by: Gucci

Did they care you were older? Did top houses cut you right away? Did it work out in the end? Which houses are known to take and reject sophomores?

Can someone in a sorority respond to this question? Idk what the poster intended but I'm curious on a girl's perspective as a sophomore rusher

It's a little harder to get into a top house as a sophomore, but no houses automatically drop them. If they really like you, you'll be fine.

For girls, they already know you're a sophomore and if they like you it doesn't really matter what year you are. Freshman are obviously preferable because they will be active members longer, but it doesn't automatically knock you out of the running. You might be asked why you didn't rush as a freshman last year, so just keep it short and sweet..."I didn't know much about Greek life last year, but it seems like a great way to get involved...". Bottom line, just be yourself and remember that you have to like them just as much as they like you. Greek life at Wisconsin is not as serious as other schools and doesn't completely define who you are on campus.

AXO, Aphi and GPhi all take sophomores. DG less so and Kappa not so much

DG takes like a half a dozen sophomores yearly, or atleast since I've been at Madison. They took about 5 this year, which is the # that I think both APhi and GPhi took. AXO took more than 5, and pretty sure Kappa took none. Honestly, when a sophomore gets in an upper/upper middle tier house, it sorta makes me think more favorably of the house. Because, every year there's like a group of girls that are super hot, fun, smart, cool, etc that don't rush freshman year (for whatever reason), and most of them already know the reps of a house and girls in the greek system. The sororities that choose these girls (and are chosen by these girls) seem more into choosing great potential members than caring a stupid stigma or about how much revenue a freshman can bring vs an upperclassmen. Just my 2 cents. Personally, I rush the person, not their age/college class.
